This ride is a physically challenging ride. To enjoy it you should train to minimize the pain.
Colorado Rocky Mountain Bike Tour recommends a training schedule that includes riding at least 15 to 30 miles three to four times a week with at least a 50 to 80 mile ride on weekends. By July you should have ridden at least one ride of at least 100 miles. To really enjoy the ride you should be riding an average of at least 100 to 150 miles per week by July. If possible these miles should include climbing to gear up for the challenging alpine nature of the CRMBT. Please keep in mind these are just benchmarks and your specific training can be completely different. Consult training experts for more specific training regimens.
Here is the straight message about SAG. SAG at the CRMBT is primarily designed for M&M. That is, medical and mechanical issues. SAG is not intended to give you a lift if you just don’t feel like riding any more. The expectation is you’ll come prepared to ride. Of course, we won’t leave you out there, but please come fit and ready to ride. Recognize the challenge, prepare appropriately, and YOU’LL DO GREAT!!!!
